Barbarian Invasions played a very important role to the fall of the Roman Empire. Barbarians from all around saw the advantage they had over Rome and attacked. The Goths first came into Rome trying to escape the Huns, eventually they turned against the Romans. Both The Goths and The Huns had very ruthless leaders, Attila and Alaric. Alaric sacked Rome and gained many riches, and Attila attacked Gaul and left the city to burn down in flames. The end of the Roman Empire was in AD 476 when Odovacar the Germanic general gained the rest of the empire and declared hi,self ruler of Italy. Many people state that this was the end of the Roman Empire when the western half was ruled by a Germanic general not a Roman.
